FAQ
The things you're wondering, answered straight.
Can I remove it whenever I want?
Yes, but it's not an instant button — it's a deliberate step. When you want to stop, you start an exit request from the computer; once the wait you chose during setup (2, 24 or 72 hours) is up, the phone returns to normal on its own. While the wait runs you can cancel from the phone: the request is dropped and nothing changes. You don't have to write to anyone and wait for a human to reply, and you don't need to factory-reset.
Are apps deleted, or just hidden?
They're not deleted. But while hidden they're completely out of reach — they don't appear on the home screen, and you can't open them from the voice assistant, search, or a notification either. The moment you stop StillPhone, they all come back exactly as they were.
Can I change the list mid-plan?
Yes, but one-way: closing an app happens instantly, opening one takes the wait. The first 2 hours are completely free — fixing a wrong setup should cost nothing. After that you can always add messaging and video-call apps right away; social media, video and game apps open after the wait you chose during setup. Giving up is hard; meeting a real need is easy.
What if I genuinely need a new app on the road? (new city, abroad, new job)
Most of the time you won't need to leave at all: banking, maps, messaging and meeting apps open as soon as you add them to the list. Only social media, video and game apps take the wait. If you really do need to leave, you start an exit request and the phone returns to normal when your chosen time is up; if something urgent comes up, you can reach us from the wizard.
What does StillPhone see on my phone?
It knows which apps are installed and the app list you chose. It does not see your messages, photos, or location; it has no access to them.
What do I need for setup?
A computer running Windows, macOS or Linux, and a USB cable (or a wireless connection). The setup wizard walks you through the rest step by step, and it takes about 10 minutes.
What happens when the trial ends?
If you don't pay, StillPhone turns itself off and your phone returns to normal. No data is lost and no charge is taken automatically.
What happens if I change my phone?
For now we move you to your new phone manually over email — write to hello@stillphone.com and we'll handle it the same day. We're working on making this fully self-service.
Is my card safe?
Payments are processed through Paddle; your card details never reach us — they stay on Paddle's secure infrastructure.
What if you shut down? Does my phone stay locked?
No. If the phone can't reach our server for 30 days, it releases itself: hidden apps come back, management is removed, the phone returns to normal. This rule runs on the phone itself — it needs nothing from us, and it doesn't need our server to be alive. That's the whole point: it's what takes over if the server disappears.
Does it work on iPhone?
No, for now it's Android only. It installs on most phones running a current Android version.
